Gigabyte App Centre is software which allows you to access different Gigabyte Apps that you can download off their website. Each App helps you get the most out of your motherboard. Other companies will have similar apps but for this purpose I'll be writing about Gigabyte specifically. Once you have downloaded the App Centre you are then able to download and access apps such as Bios, Live update and many more. All of the apps enhance your motherboards capabilities in some way. Even more specifically I'm going to write about Bios. |
The motherboard a piece of hardware that many people neglect and some don't even know how vital it is to a PC. Every component needs the motherboard, it's like the human body, rather difficult to live without. So keeping it well maintained and up to date is one of the best things you can do. Updating your motherboards Bios can be very daunting and difficult as it usually requires Q-Flash and the update to be stored on a external storage device. This way is fine for those who have done it before but if you don't feel like going through the hassle then an easier option is available.
Gigabytes App, "Bios" literally allows you to update your motherboard bios from within Windows meaning that you don't have to even access the scary looking Bios screen. In the Bios app you will find five tabs each with different functions. The first is handy as it gives you the details of your motherboard such as current Bios version, Bios Vendor, Flash Memory Size and Flash Memory Type. The next is Update from server which allows you to update your Bios from the Gigabyte server rather than having to download it. Then Update from File which does basically what it says and finally the last two which are Save to File and Face Wizard. The final two aren't particularly important so I won't cover them in this Blog.
In regards to the Bios information, the only important piece is what Bios version you have currently just for future reference. Updating from server and updating from file are just as easy, the only difference is that one is safer. I would recommend using update from file especially if you have an unstable or weak connection to the internet. The reason for this is updating the Bios comes with an immense risk as your motherboard could be rendered useless and in turn your PC as well. Of course if you are confident in your connection then choose from server as it's all automated, just bear in mind that once you start it you won't be able to use your PC for the duration of the update.
To start the process you select which server and then click next after which you are brought to another screen where you select your Motherboard and Bios version. The rest is just as simple. Bios updates are released either when a new Operating system is released or new hardware is released. The updates also improve performance and capability. Overall Gigabyte Bios makes the process easier, less time consuming and a whole lot less scary.
