If you want something more from your browser then Torch is for you. Based on Google Chrome it boasts many added features and allows for the customisation of nearly every aspect of the browser. It's also good for people loyal to Chrome as it still has all the base functions and apps which means you can access your mail, documents and youtube account all from the main screen. |
Torch is slightly slower when it comes to load times but it's barely noticeable and hardly worth mentioning. Torch is an easily customisable and simple web browser which makes up for that. You can customise the background either leaving it blank, having a picture or just having a simple colour. You can also decide if you want the date and time displayed on your home screen and even where you want the search bar just by dragging. It doesn't stop there, if you don't like any of the base backgrounds then you can choose your own by uploading it. Additionally you can decide whether or not you want the dock panel at the bottom. With this level of customisation doing away with what you find annoying is actually possible and making it suit your style best will improve your experience.
At the bottom of the screen you have the Doc Bottom Panel, this to me is an all important feature. Within the bottom panel you have four tabs, Top News, Recently Closed, Apps and Favourites, all of which are very handy. Apps is probably the most important and definitely will be for Google users as it contains Google slides, Google Docs, Google Drive, Youtube, Gmail and many more. It doesnt just contain Google apps, Torch have their own, Torch Games, Music and Torrent. If your only reason for using Chrome was because it's all in one place then that's no longer an issue. Recently Closed and Favourites is actually far better than any other browser as it's clearer, each link is accompanied by a square box with a sample of the website displayed making it easier to define between each one. The last is Top News which displays news from around the world that is deemed important, this feature is good for people who like to stay informed. You can also collapse the Bottom Panel by clicking the pin on the right if you find it to distracting.
Torch has it's own Torrent client built in. This feature is perfect for anyone who downloads Torrent files on a regular basis. It also simplifies the process so rather than having a separate Torrent client that you have to switch between it's all together. They also have their own web page TorchTorrent where you can upload and download Torrents. Turning it off is also very simple all you have to do is click a button. Torch also has Torch Music built in which is similar to Spotify and Apple Music in the sense you don't buy the music directly. Torch Music also has a Mobile App just in case anyone wants to listen on the go. Lastly they also have Torch Games which is basically just a web game site. It has a large amount of games of varying style, a bit of fun, good enough for a mess around.

Due to the fact that Torch is based on Chrome the extensions are exactly the same, coming from Google extensions and you can still sign in so that you have access to all your Google accounts further more you still have access to the Chrome Web Store so you can play games from there and download apps as well. Overall Torch is a viable replacement for Google Chrome and actually improves upon many of the features that Chrome has. If you feel like a change then download it and give it a try.
